We believe that literacy is the key that unlocks an individual’s ability to learn. Our vision is to be recognized as one of the nation’s premier organizations for literacy services.
Literacy Council Gulf Coast’s (LCGC) mission is “to assist adults and children to acquire the English literacy skills and education necessary to improve their quality of life and enhance the entire community.” We accomplish our mission every day through the generous support of our volunteers, donors, and tutors.
LCGC provides free educational instruction for adults in reading, writing & speaking, U.S. citizenship, GED preparation, worksite literacy and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). We support and strengthen families through our highly successful Carol DeJoy Moms and Tots® Family Literacy program where we teach mothers together with their young children. In our Kids+ Lifelong Learning program, we teach parents of students at Title I schools in Lee, Collier, and Hendry Counties through an innovative public-nonprofit partnership.
As the largest literacy nonprofit in the United States, we are proud to serve residents in Bonita Springs, San Carlos Park, Estero, Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, Cape Coral, Sanibel, LaBelle, and Naples. Together we can make a difference.
